Computers

The Computers module provides administrators and security teams with a consolidated view of all endpoints where the Socify Device Monitor has been installed. This module offers visibility into device ownership, operating systems, monitoring status, and key security posture indicators. It plays a critical role in ensuring that all organizational devices remain secure, monitored, and compliant.

Accessing the Computers Module

To view monitored devices:

  1. Log in to Socify.

  2. Navigate to the User Management section in the left menu.

  3. Click Computers.

  4. The full list of monitored devices will be displayed on the main screen.

1. Computers List Overview

The Computers table provides detailed information about each monitored endpoint. Each row represents a device actively reporting security and monitoring data via the installed agent.

The table includes the following columns:

1.1 Sr. No.

Sequential numbering to easily reference devices.

1.2 Device

Shows the device name retrieved from the monitoring agent.

1.3 Owner

Displays the assigned user’s details:

  • Name

  • Email

This helps easily identify which user the device belongs to.

1.4 OS Version

Indicates the operating system running on the device (e.g., Windows 11, Darwin/macOS versions).

1.5 Monitoring

Displays whether the Socify monitoring agent is installed and active. Example: SOCIFY Device

1.6 Security Health Indicators

Each device shows multiple compliance and security checks represented by green ✔ (passed) or red ✖ (failed):

  • PW (Password Manager Status)

  • HD (Hard Drive Encryption Status)

  • AV (Antivirus Status)

  • SL (Security Lock Status)

These indicators help administrators quickly evaluate each device’s security posture.

1.7 Last Check

Shows the most recent timestamp when the device’s monitoring agent reported data back to Socify.

This information is useful to:

  • Identify inactive or unreachable devices

  • Verify that devices are continuously monitored

  • Detect stale agent connections

1.8 Actions

When you click the eye icon (👁️) in the Actions column, a detailed device panel opens on the right side of the screen. This panel provides a complete overview of the selected device, including:

a. Device Summary

  • Device name and operating system

  • Current monitoring status (e.g., Running)

  • Start date of monitoring

  • Compliance plan the device belongs to

  • Monitoring source (Socify Device Monitor)

b. Tasks Tab

Shows the tasks completed by the device owner, such as:

  • Accepted Security Policies

  • Installed Device Monitor

Each completed task is marked with a green checkmark.

c. Computer Tab

Provides in-depth monitoring and configuration details, including:

  • Monitoring agent status

  • OS version

  • Security posture indicators:

    • Password/Authentication (PW Manager)

    • Antivirus Installed

    • Screen Lock

    • Disk Encryption

  • Last Check timestamp indicating the latest agent communication

d. Applications List

In the Computer tab, clicking Applications (e.g., Total 37) opens a full list of all installed applications on the device. This popup includes:

  • Application name

  • Installed version

  • Sequential index for each application

This helps administrators review software inventory, validate compliance, and detect unapproved applications.

2. Filtering and Searching Devices

The module offers advanced filtering options to help administrators locate specific devices efficiently.

2.1 Clear Filters

Resets all search and filter selections back to default.

2.2 Search by Device Name

Find devices by entering partial or complete device names.

2.3 Search by Owner

Filter devices based on the user name or email address.

2.4 Search by OS Version

Locate devices by operating system type or version.

These filters streamline device management, especially in organizations with large numbers of endpoints.

3. Exporting Device Information

The Export All button (top-right of the table) allows administrators to export/download the entire device list for reporting, analysis, or compliance purposes in CSV format.

Typical use cases include:

  • Preparing audit evidence

  • Monitoring fleet-wide compliance

  • Internal IT reporting

  • Tracking installation progress for the Device Monitor

The exported file includes all device details displayed in the table.

4. How Devices Appear in This Module

Devices only appear in this module when the user:

  1. Navigates to My Security Checks, and

  2. Completes the Install Device Monitor task by installing the Socify agent.

Once installed:

  • The device is automatically registered under the Computers module

  • OS version and monitoring information are updated

  • Security checks (PW, HD, AV, SL) are populated

  • The “Last Check” timestamp begins updating periodically

This ensures accurate and real-time endpoint visibility.

5. Best Practices When Managing Devices

  • Review device statuses regularly to ensure all endpoints maintain acceptable security levels.

  • Investigate red ✖ indicators immediately to address non-compliant devices.

  • Use filters to identify trends such as outdated OS versions or devices failing antivirus checks.

  • Monitor the “Last Check” timestamps to detect inactive devices.

  • Periodically export device data for audits or compliance reporting.

6. Summary

The Computers module is an essential component of the Socify platform, enabling organizations to maintain centralized visibility over all monitored devices. By presenting real-time device health, security compliance indicators, ownership details, and agent activity, this module ensures that organizations can effectively secure their endpoints and maintain compliance with internal and external security standards.
